Abstract
This study aimed to reflect on the use of the Convergence Group (CG) as a motivating tool to consolidate humanized nursing care practices during the parturition process. The theoretical framework reports on the emergence of obstetric nursing in Brazil and presents the Convergent Care Research (PCA) as a methodology for building tools to consolidate health care practices. This is a qualitative Convergent-Careful study, carried out in a Preterm / Parturition / Puerperium Unit (PPP) of a federal university hospital, located in the central-western region of Brazil. The data collection was obtained through the use of the tripod of the PCA (Convergence Group; Interview Conversation and Participating Observation). The subjects of the study were all (six) Obstetrician Nurses (EO) acting in the PPP unit. The analysis was based on the proposal of the authors Trentini and Paim (2014), which consists of four generic processes: apprehension, synthesis, theorization and transference. The results point out that the PCA, through the reflections provided by the CG, carried out for the elaboration of a tool with the purpose of subsidizing the assistance practice of the EO, provided the integration and uniformity of practices and behaviors among the staff; Institutional and legal support for such
practices; Contributed to the empowerment of EO; Stimulated the exercise of the autonomy of these professionals and influenced the beginning of the incorporation of new practices (based on current scientific evidence), strengthening the humanized practices of nursing care to the process of parturition. Therefore, it is considered that the collective construction of a tool for nursing care at delivery, provided by the CG, translated into a potential strategy for the consolidation of humanized nursing care at childbirth.
