Abstract
This study’s objective is to develop a scale for Organizational Citizenship’s Behavior (OCD, applicable to nurses working in a hospital setting. The scale which is proposed here possesses a multidimensional structure, having identified ten first order factors (items
related to volunteering actions directed to the client, help towards colleagues and the organization, organizational participation and identification, responsibility and innovation, and also interpersonal harmony) which following confirmatory analysis (x2=703/df 453;
GFI=.89; CFI=.920; TLI=.912;RMSEA= .042) are organized into two second category dimensions: voluntary behaviors directed towards people (OCB-I) and behavior directed to the organization (OCB-O) which seem to concur with previous investigation (Smith Organ
e Near, 1983; Williams e Anderson (1991); Irvine (1995) Organ, (1997); Organ e Paine (1999). The final version presents an elevated internal consistency with a Cronbach α of .89 (n= 309) and the stability of test-retest being .85 (n=43). Studies of qualitative validation were also done due to the agreement of inter-raters, which ruled in favour of the validity of the construct and of the content of the measure developed.
