Abstract
The phenomenological approach has assumed an increasingly significant position in nursing research. However the term phenomenology, and especially its use in the above context, is not free of some confusion regarding its nature and application.
This article appears in the scope of the author’s development of his doctoral thesis in nursing and aims to help clarify and systematize the main ideas and concepts behind this philosophy, once they appear as foundation and framework for conducting the phenomenological methods used in nursing research.
In this sense the author propose in dialogue with the thoughts of Husserl,Heidegger and Ricoeur, to pursue a path going from explicitation to the interpretation of the lived experience, allowing the subsequent presentation of the analytical method’s framework proposed by Alexander (1991) and Lindseth & Norberg (2004), both inspired by the theory of interpretation developed by the philosopher Paul Ricoeur.
