Abstract
Nowadays, nursing education is living one of its evolution periods, where debate comes out deeply, mobilizing the actors, the contexts and knowledge throughout the different époques within an approach supported on two organizing principles:
1 – the first thought in a socio-historic perspective about the evolution of nursing education in Portugal, with reference to the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, basing ourselves essentially in a set of facts that characterize the 90’s and the beginning of 21st century;
2 – the second, which we have considered in an integrated way; a period as a transitional place for analysis that allows us to think about whether nowadays nursing education is going through a change of paradigm or if we are standing before a paradigm in transition. We definitely place ourselves in the second perspective.
We have used a transitional model as methodology for a socio-historic analysis of the phenomenon.
We will finish sharing some aspects for reflection in the scope of the perspectives of development of nursing education, mobilizing the constraints resulting essentially of the uncertain of the beheld by the present and the future.
